Volunteers Week Celebration
Volunteers Week Celebration – 1st June – 7th June 2019
Project Manager: Sarah Corkery
Volunteers Week this year has been an all-out fabulous celebration! We can’t ever say thank you enough to all our amazing volunteers all year round (currently we have 107!) so when #VolunteersWeek comes around and puts the spotlight right on them it is only right that we celebrate in style.
Appreciation Station
We had an appreciation station up in The Exchange throughout the week for staff, Exchange users and local people to write some heartfelt messages, share love and appreciation to all our volunteers. We used these quotes for our social media through the week. Some of the messages read:
“Always a pleasure to be visit. Greeted with a smile and warmth and kindness of all volunteers. Make you feel very welcome and always willing to help”
“You are my second family”
“Thank you everyone for all you do for us”
“Thanks to all our lovely volunteers – we’d be lost without you”
The appreciation station was a great boost not only to our volunteers, but to everyone who read or wrote a message from the local community.
Window Display
We had a beautiful window full of photos of our volunteers as well as some mind-blowing statistics
In 2018/19 we had 10,526 hours of volunteering
• 2,011 hours in the library
• 3,075 hours in the café
• 1,350 hours supporting our dementia and carers services
• 27,000 sandwiches made in the café
To complement the window, we had a mini display at the information desk with speech bubble quotes by our volunteers on why they volunteer at Age Exchange
Personal Notes
As more of a personal thank you, our volunteers received thank you cards in the post sent with love and tea bags. The idea that our volunteers can have a cuppa on us and share a tea with a loved one! Just a small token of appreciation for ALL that our volunteers do for us! (Our volunteers have served 35,200 teas 2018/2019!) Drury tea and coffee kindly donated us the teabags.
Even though Volunteers Week is over our celebrations are not! We will continue to celebrate our volunteers all year round. Thank you to everyone who got involved in The Exchange or online!
